The former Red Bull boss looks set for an immediate comeback to Formula 1, reportedly following the Toto Wolff model at Mercedes.
Christian Horner’s future already seems mapped out: according to reports from England, the ex-Red Bull Team Principal is ready to step back into the spotlight in F1—this time at the helm of a so-called “second-tier” team.
Daily Mail claims Horner has already entered talks with Haas, the Ferrari-powered outfit, with the aim of taking on a dual role similar to Toto Wolff’s at Mercedes: not only Team Principal but also shareholder of the American team. This move would mark his swift return to the paddock after his $100M Red Bull exit deal and the expected gardening leave.
Gene Haas is open—but family matters count too
Team owner Gene Haas is reportedly willing to embrace the idea, fully aware of Horner’s pedigree as a manager who led Red Bull to six drivers’ titles and five constructors’ championships before his departure in July. But beyond the professional side, family considerations are at play too—particularly the stance of Horner’s wife, Geri Halliwell, who stood by him during the turbulence linked to the scandal with a former employee.
If the deal goes through, Formula 1 could face a major political and sporting shift: Horner would be back in the front row, aiming to turn Haas into a more solid and ambitious project. For now, Haas remains the only team in F1 history never to have scored a victory or a podium finish.
