The bond between MotoGP and Southeast Asia continues to grow stronger: the renewal of the Thai Grand Prix for another five years has been made official.

The expansion of the Far East, as well as that of MotoGP, continues: today it was officially announced that the Chang International Circuit in Buriram will remain on the world championship calendar until 2031. The agreement with the Thai circuit was set to expire next year, but since its debut, the importance of this round has steadily increased, even hosting the season’s opening ceremony in Thailand.

Carmelo Ezpeleta’s Words

These are the words of Dorna Sports CEO regarding the renewal: “Since we first came to Buriram in 2018, the Thai GP has become an increasingly important event. The grandstands are always full, the races are spectacular, and the extra entertainment creates a complete weekend experience for the public, often setting attendance records.

Thailand and Southeast Asia are fundamental for MotoGP. Our sport is already popular there, but there’s still huge growth potential. We’re very happy to continue working on this mission together with the Sports Authority of Thailand and all the fantastic staff who make the event such a success.”

Gongsak Yodmani’s Words, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand

“The Thai GP is more than just a race. It is a strategic tool that stimulates the economy through sports tourism, generating direct and indirect economic value in the tourism, hospitality, transport, and supply chain sectors. These tangible benefits represent the impact that Thailand has achieved as a MotoGP host.”

“Following a recent Cabinet meeting,” continued Gongsak Yodmani, “the Thai government approved a five-year extension, from 2027 to 2031, reflecting the government’s clear commitment to continue. The Thai GP is a strategic asset that enhances the country’s global image, attracts international visitors, and fosters sustainable economic circulation. The Sports Authority of Thailand is tasked with positioning the country as a regional hub for motorsports, supporting competitions, training young riders, and leveraging soft power to showcase Thailand’s identity and values to the world.”
