The Canadian driver responds to Colapinto’s criticism after the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Tensions remain high following the controversy that erupted at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix between Lance Stroll and Franco Colapinto. In fact, after the race, the Argentine—fresh off his confirmation by the Alpine team for the 2026 season—criticised the Aston Martin driver, who was involved in the contact that put hometown favourite Gabriel Bortoleto out of the race on the second lap.

In fact, after reviewing the footage post-race, Colapinto — who had already witnessed the contact in real time as he was right behind the two drivers involved — told Marca.com: “Stroll always pushes drivers off the track, he never looks in his mirrors. He pushed Gabi into the wall; it’s something he does all the time.”

After almost two weeks, on the Wednesday in Las Vegas, the Canadian driver finally responded, with his words reported by The Race: “I heard about it. I don’t know.” Maybe he’s frustrated and angry with life. I don’t know how many points he has in the championship. I can’t tell you.”

After being asked by the journalists present, the Canadian driver added: He has zero points. I don’t know. He should probably focus on his own things and try to score some points this year. Maybe he’s frustrated with his season and with the fact that he’s not where he wants to be. He needs to talk about other irrelevant things. My advice to him is to focus on his own matters and maybe score a point this year.”

Franco Colapinto is the only driver still on the grid who has not scored any points this season. The other driver with zero points is Jack Doohan, who only participated in the first six races before being replaced by the Argentine driver.

Finally, Stroll revealed that he had clarified the situation with Gabriel Bortoleto, stating that, for him, it was simply a racing incident: “I was racing. I didn’t receive any penalties in Brazil or anything. I spoke with Gabriel after the race. Probably Franco should focus on scoring a point or something like that this year.

Stroll responds to Colapinto’s accusations: the Argentine driver tries to calm the controversy.

During the press conference of the Las Vegas weekend, Colapinto tried to ease the controversy after hearing Stroll’s statements: “Yes. I think you saw a reaction in the heat of the moment after the race. Regarding the incident with Gabriel – I was right behind and just saw the moment. But of course, I apologise if my words affected him in any way, of course. I was caught up in the heat of the moment after the race, and yes, I hope everything is fine between us. However, we have spent a lot of time together on track during the races. We have been very close to each other and have had some close battles.”
