According to AutoRacer, Michel-Grosjean, formerly of McLaren, could become Hamilton’s new trackside engineer
Ferrari continues to work on defining the technical team that will support Lewis Hamilton in the upcoming season. In this context, new details have emerged regarding the profile identified for the role of the British driver’s trackside engineer. Following earlier reports in Corriere della Sera, which suggested a possible addition from McLaren, further confirmations have now emerged. AutoRacer reports that the most likely candidate to join Hamilton at the pit wall is Cedric Michel-Grosjean, a French engineer who recently left the Woking-based team.
Who is Michel-Grosjean
In recent years, Michel-Grosjean has taken on increasingly senior roles at McLaren, eventually coordinating technical operations directly on track. In this capacity, he worked closely with both drivers and the team, overseeing data analysis, technical development, and performance optimization during race weekends, while becoming part of the group supporting Oscar Piastri.
Any potential appointment would take place gradually, in line with Ferrari’s approach to building the new operational setup around the seven-time world champion. The team is reportedly considering Michel-Grosjean primarily for his trackside experience and his work in performance support, rather than for a fully established radio engineer role. According to AutoRacer, Lewis Hamilton would be involved in the selection process, highlighting Ferrari’s intention to assemble a team aligned with the British driver’s needs.
