HISTORIC DAY FOR ITALY: KIMI ANTONELLI WINS HIS FIRST F1 GRAND PRIX IN CHINA!
It’s history, Italy! A spectacular Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, where our Andrea Kimi Antonelli has written a new chapter in the great book of Formula 1. Starting from pole position, the young Mercedes driver managed the race with maturity, consistent pace, and composure in the key moments, gradually building his advantage all the way to the chequered flag.
A historic victory – the first of his Formula 1 career – confirming his outstanding start to the season and the competitiveness of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team at this stage of the championship. Immediately after the race, the Bolognese driver stated: “I said yesterday that I wanted to bring Italy back to the top, and I’m happy to have done it.”
Behind him finished George Russell, completing a Mercedes one-two that underlines the team’s technical dominance in China. Also on the podium was Lewis Hamilton, achieving his first top-three finish with Scuderia Ferrari, after an intense race filled with battles in the middle stages, particularly with Charles Leclerc, who finished fourth. Fifth place went to Oliver Bearman, once again delivering a solid performance in a demanding race, especially considering tyre degradation.
Both McLaren drivers and Max Verstappen were out of the race due to technical issues.
