The final decision on the Sprint start at Goiânia has arrived: the situation after the hole.
It’s a rather unusual situation for the MotoGP World Championship, but it’s unfolding minute by minute: a hole opened on the track, and now, after extensive work by the marshals, it seems the problem has been resolved.

Hole on the MotoGP track: what happened
Due to heavy rain over the weekend, the asphalt gave way, creating an actual hole on the main straight and starting grid.
This made it impossible to run the sessions, which is why Moto3 and Moto2 were officially postponed, putting the MotoGP Sprint at risk as well.
Here is the Race Direction statement on the situation, reported by Sky Sport: “Following the repair works on the surface at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna, the MotoGP Sprint should start with a slight delay of approximately 20 minutes. An updated schedule will be announced shortly. Qualifying sessions for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes are expected to take place after the Sprint.”
The official word: the Sprint will start at 19:20, slightly later than originally planned.
