It’s almost cinematic, the comeback of Jorge Martin: just 11 months ago, he was fighting for his life, and today… he’s back on the podium!
On April 17, 2025, just a few days after returning in Qatar, Jorge Martin was hit by Fabio Di Giannantonio on track: the stretcher came in, and the Spaniard began a harrowing journey that even made him confront thoughts of death.

Martin recalled: “I thought I was going to die, I said goodbye to everyone”
He told AS: “I was closer to death than I ever wanted to be: I especially remember the moment in the hospital when I thought I was going to die. I felt inside that I was leaving this world: I called my girlfriend María and my mother because I wanted to say goodbye.”
That was Jorge Martin just 11 months ago, fresh off his MotoGP World Championship. Then came the chaos with Aprilia (the team he wanted to leave at all costs), multiple surgeries, and a seemingly endless ordeal.
Jorge’s return to the podium: his last one was…
Today the Spaniard is back on the podium after almost a year and a half: the last time he stood on the top three was at the 2024 Solidarity GP, the very race in Barcelona where he claimed his first MotoGP World Championship.
World championship thoughts? Not yet. When asked by Giovanni Zamagni on Sky Sport, the ex-Pramac rider responded bluntly: “Yeah, are you crazy?” Yet the standings don’t lie: he’s only 11 points behind the leader, currently his teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
