Marco Bezzecchi, Marc Marquez, and others face potential grid penalties: here’s the situation.
Qualifying in Austin was extremely busy today: Fabio Di Giannantonio’s pole position isn’t the only story, as three incidents are now under scrutiny.
The Three Incidents Under Investigation
All the episodes here:
The first involves Marc Márquez and Marco Bezzecchi. The nine-time world champion was on a flying lap with riders Celestino Vietti, Marini, and Ogura ahead of him. As the trio returned to the pits, Marquez’s lap was compromised by the train of riders in front, frustrating the #93 as he chased pole position.
A similar situation occurred a few minutes later with Francesco Bagnaia, who had Ai Ogura ahead of him. Bagnaia had to slow down and abort his lap, putting Ogura under investigation.
Finally, there was an incident between Marquez and Enea Bastianini. Marquez left a small gap for Bastianini to take a corner, but it wasn’t wide enough. After overtaking the #93 Ducati and completing the turn, the Italian expressed his frustration by raising his leg in disapproval.
Keep an eye especially on Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi: two strong title contenders now face a serious risk of grid penalties.
