At the end of the race, Carlos Sainz went on the attack against Formula 1 and the current regulations following the incident involving Oliver Bearman
Bearman’s crash did not leave Carlos Sainz unmoved: the Spanish Williams driver, speaking to DAZN Spain, took the opportunity to launch a scathing attack on Formula 1’s current technical leadership.
Sainz’s words
According to the Madrid-born driver, what happened at Suzuka is merely the first warning sign of a wider problem. Today’s incident, in fact, is said to be the natural consequence of a rule that the drivers themselves had already called into question. “This break is very welcome in F1. We drivers had been warning for some time that an accident like this was only a matter of time “.
Sainz then turned his attention to power management and its direct impact on on-track battles, openly criticising the spectacle offered by today’s cars: “What you’re seeing isn’t overtaking, but simply passing on the motorway, where you press the boost button and go past. The overtaking you see isn’t real overtaking”.
Finally, the Williams driver issued a clear warning to Formula 1, urging the sport’s leadership to listen to the drivers’ feedback and take prompt action on the issues that have emerged: “I hope F1 reconsiders this, because it is clear that these regulations have gaps and problems that need to be addressed before we head to Miami, or other types of circuits”.
