Charles Leclerc had mixed feelings, once again criticizing qualifying while having some positive things to say about the race.
A commendable performance from Charles Leclerc in the Japanese Grand Prix, with the Monegasque Ferrari driver managing to secure an incredible podium finish by winning the duel with George Russell. Leclerc, his second top-three finish this season, once again highlighted the poor qualifying performance, while appearing enthusiastic about the performance of the new cars in the race
Here are the Ferrari driver’s detailed statements: “With these cars, we have to race differently, there’s no doubt about that and the issue of superclipping is definitely something that needs to be taken into consideration, more by the defending car than the attacking one. I learned this the hard way in Australia; there were several, let’s say, complicated situations in the duel with Russell.
Whether we need to change everything for the race, I don’t know. I don’t think I’m the only one who doesn’t think so; I talk to all the drivers, and I’d say we’re pretty much split down the middle. As for the race, I like these cars. I think for qualifying, there are definitely some changes we need to make to be able to push these cars to the limit and not have to think too much about energy.”
