New updates from Saudi Arabia on the progress of the new circuit, which will be on the calendar starting in 2028.
Saudi Arabia will most likely not be on the current Formula 1 calendar (due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East), but is working hard on the new circuit that will officially debut in 2028, replacing the current Jeddah track. Designed by renowned architect Hermann Tilke, the track promises to be revolutionary and will test drivers to the limit, given its high number of corners and the now-famous banking.
The main feature of the new Arabian circuit, in fact, will be the first corner, which will be a full 70 meters high and has been nicknamed “The Blade.” The progress of the work, which is proceeding at a rapid pace, has raised the first doubts among enthusiasts. After viewing the construction of the track itself, they have raised important questions (regarding safety) that are bound to give pause for thought.
The new Saudi track will consist of 22 corners and will be run counterclockwise, with drivers potentially reaching speeds of around 330 km/h. The new structure will be permanent and will also include other attractions, including a theme park and several golf courses.
