Ferrari is already hard at work on its third engine of the season, which could debut this summer.

The break due to the disastrous events in the Middle East is allowing teams to work tirelessly on improving various areas of the car. Among these, of course, is Ferrari, which has started the current season strongly, establishing itself as the second-place team behind Mercedes. The gap between the two teams currently appears significant, but the Maranello-based team is working to introduce significant upgrades starting at the Miami race.

During the American round, the Prancing Horse is expected to bring a second PU, which should provide a significant improvement over the current straight-line performance of the Ferrari, as seen in the Suzuka race. The great anticipation in Maranello is for the third unit, which should be revolutionary and allow Leclerc and Hamilton to compete on equal terms with the Mercedes-powered teams.

According to our colleagues at Auto Racer, Ferrari’s third engine could debut during one of the summer events, with the Silverstone race (scheduled for July 5th) likely coinciding with the development and debut of the new engine component. Meanwhile, tomorrow will see the first of three FIA meetings, which will also discuss the use of the ADUO.
