The incredible shake-up that emerged this morning in Formula 1 is finding confirmation: three teams heading toward a new era?
Major news in Formula 1 often breaks early in the morning. It happened with Lewis Hamilton joining Scuderia Ferrari, with Christian Horner and Adrian Newey leaving Red Bull Racing — and it may be happening again today.
Following fresh reports suggesting Gianpiero Lambiase could join McLaren from 2028, new details are emerging that make the scenario even more intriguing. The long-time race engineer of Max Verstappen could be just the first piece of a wider leadership reshuffle at the top of Formula 1.
According to journalist Erik van Haren, Lambiase is among the leading candidates to become McLaren Team Principal in the coming years – a possibility that inevitably puts Andrea Stella under pressure.
Stella to Ferrari? Vasseur Under Question
Interestingly, Stella himself could become a potential replacement for Frédéric Vasseur at Ferrari. A leadership change would be unlikely if Ferrari were to win the 2026 championship. However, if the performance gap remains, Ferrari’s leadership could consider making a move — possibly targeting McLaren’s current boss.
A potential move of Stella to Ferrari would therefore open the door for Lambiase’s promotion, completing a domino effect involving three of the most important teams on the grid.
For now, the truth remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that tensions among the top teams – with the exception of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team – appear to be rising.
