The long spring break hasn’t given Ferrari’s engines a rest: the Scuderia will be on track today and tomorrow! Here’s the full exclusive coverage from GPKingdom.

Like all other Formula 1 teams, Scuderia Ferrari took advantage of the extended calendar break (due to the situation in the Middle East) to schedule two days of wet-weather testing at Fiorano, focusing primarily on the development of the SF-26.

Ferrari will be on track both today, April 9, and tomorrow. Lewis Hamilton will be driving, eager to close the gap with his former team Mercedes, currently the dominant force in the championship.

Charles Leclerc, according to GPKingdom’s exclusive reporting, will spend today in the simulator and return home in the evening, leaving Hamilton in control again tomorrow.

Pirelli Test Program

As reported by Motorsport.com, the plan includes running a new-design Full Wet tire, not yet intended for final production, but useful for collecting data on the car’s wet performance.

These tests are especially important since the last time the new-regulation cars ran on wet tires was during the Barcelona shakedown, where the SF-26s were still too raw for precise evaluation. So far, no official wet sessions have been conducted.

In addition to the tires, Ferrari will test several aerodynamic solutions, including the so-called “Macarena wing,” previously used only in free practice sessions but never in qualifying or races. The long break is therefore a valuable opportunity to maximize every lap and prepare thoroughly for upcoming Grands Prix, starting with Miami, where Ferrari aims to close in on leaders Russell and Antonelli.
