Official statement from the Federation following the first of three meetings scheduled to amend the current regulations.

The first of three meetings convened by the FIA to evaluate and, potentially, amend part of the current regulatory cycle has just concluded. In London, Federation members met with technicians from the eleven teams participating in the championship to study the data collected from the first three races of the season with a view to implementing some adjustments that will ensure a balance between the spectacle and the true nature of racing.

The 2026 regulations were developed and agreed upon in close collaboration with the teams, engine manufacturers, power unit manufacturers, the commercial rights holder, and the FIA, all present at the same table. It is in this spirit of collaboration that potential changes are being discussed. Any changes to the regulations will be subject to the FIA World Motor Sport Council approval process

What happens now? Further meetings are scheduled over the next two weeks:

  • April 15: There will be further discussions on the sporting regulations with various changes in Section B, a first step towards further changes.
  • April 16: Another technical session is scheduled to discuss the issues raised today.
  • April 20: Date to be marked in red on the calendar: the FIA will meet with the Technical Representatives of the eleven participating teams, and the proposals developed in previous meetings will be put to a vote. The press release published today clearly indicated the intention to modify part of the regulations, but without radically altering them. The official decision will be made in about ten days.
