The only FIA Grade 3 circuit in Poland has been closed: here’s why.
Poland’s main racing circuit, Tor Poznań, was closed yesterday. The reason? Polish noise regulations. The ruling had already been issued in October 2023, and the appeal submitted by the circuit was rejected just 24 hours ago.
The decision has sparked major controversy, both among motorsport fans and local residents. While some people living nearby had previously protested against the noise, others strongly opposed the closure. In particular, one detail is raising questions about the decision.
The circuit, the only FIA Grade 3 track in Poland, was built in the 1970s and is located next to an airport – which is naturally louder whenever planes take off and land. However, the track exceeds the 50 dB limit imposed by Polish regulations. For this reason, all races scheduled for the coming weeks have been cancelled.
