A season start to forget for Viñales: the ordeal continues, with the KTM rider still sidelined after his shoulder injury.
After weeks of waiting, MotoGP returns this weekend with the first European round of the season: the Jerez circuit will host the fourth event of the year. However, Maverick Viñales will be absent, as he is still recovering from his recent surgery.
The official statement
The official announcement of the #12 rider’s withdrawal came shortly ago via Team Tech3’s social media pages, which read: “Maverick Viñales will miss the Spanish GP to continue his recovery; with reserve Pol Espargaró also sidelined by injury, Tech3 will focus its efforts on a single-bike entry this weekend.”
Therefore, no replacement is planned for the Catalan rider, with the team concentrating all its efforts on Enea Bastianini’s race weekend.
