The event organizers have opened the door to a possible double-header this season, with the final decision remaining with Liberty Media.
The uncertainty and war that has gripped the Middle East for nearly three months has also had significant repercussions in Formula 1, with the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix, scheduled for April 12 and 19, respectively. It’s highly unlikely that either will be rescheduled (given the congested calendar), although Jeddah would have important opportunities at the end of the season, forcing drivers and teams into a veritable tour de force with four races in four weeks.
In recent days, however, another possibility has been gaining traction, as the organizers of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone have reportedly proposed to Liberty Media the possibility of a double-header across the Channel. Stuart Pringle, the track’s executive director, said: “Of course, there are many practical details to work out, but the offer is on the table. They know where to find us, and they also know we can act quickly if necessary.”
