Franco Colapinto performed well, finishing eighth, ahead of teammate Gasly.

The confidence boost from the Argentine crowd had an immediate and positive effect on Franco Colapinto, who, in Miami, finished eighth in a Sprint Qualifying session that featured both Alpines. The French team, in fact, proved to be the fifth-place team, as demonstrated by the Argentine driver’s eighth-place finish and the tenth-place finish secured by teammate Pierre Gasly.

Colapinto himself expressed his satisfaction at the end of the session: “I’m happy with today’s result and how we achieved it. We managed to turn things around from a difficult starting position, because it was quite tough and it took us a while to understand how the car was behaving at the start of the day. We found some improvements and finally felt in a good rhythm, putting in some good laps and increasing our speed and confidence in each session.

It’s important to do that, especially on a Sprint weekend, which can be difficult. It was nice to have the end-of-season break to reset and restart, and today is a really positive result for the team, with Pierre and I in SQ3 and a set of Soft tyres to save for tomorrow. We worked well with the engineers during the break to understand where we can improve, and we hope this is a sign that the hard work is paying off. The pace looks strong, and we hope it continues tomorrow and for the rest of the weekend.”
