Moments of fear during the Superpole Race at Balaton Park: after a good start, the Portuguese rider from Team BMW was caught up in a crash at Turn 6. Below are the updates on his condition.
Miguel Oliveira: his condition
Update 11:49 – Miguel Oliveira will be transported to the hospital in Székesfehérvár for further checks. Meanwhile, he has been declared unfit for the rest of the weekend due to a left shoulder injury.
The dynamics of the accident
During the first lap of the Superpole Race at Balaton Park, Andrea Locatelli runs wide: the Yamaha rider tries to return to the racing line but hits Sam Lowes’ Ducati. This collision then leads to another impact involving Oliveira, who at that moment was on the outside compared to the other two riders. The Portuguese rider is then struck by both Locatelli and his own bike.
Initially, Oliveira remains on the ground as medical staff enter the track: a red flag is immediately shown. Fortunately, he is conscious, but he is taken to the medical center on a stretcher, while Locatelli receives two long-lap penalties to be served during the Superpole Race.
