The talented French driver will be involved in the development of the new Gen4 cars.
Having delivered an excellent debut season in Formula E so far, the Citroën team is also looking ahead to the future, in view of the debut of the new Gen4 cars in what will be Season 13 of the all-electric category. Indeed, the signing of Doriane Pin as the new Development Driver of the French team has been officially confirmed, with a role mainly focused on the development of the new generation of single-seaters.
The French driver will therefore be integrated into the test programme of the newly established French team. According to TheRace, Pin will initially be involved at the wheel of the Gen3 cars, in order to get used to the different power delivery of a Formula E car, and will later test the new Gen4 on track starting as early as this summer, before being ready for the pre-season tests in Jarama, scheduled for November.
After winning the 2025 F1 Academy Championship, driving a Prema car supported by the Mercedes team, in 2026 Doriane Pin signed a contract directly with Stellantis, just like Théo Pourchaire, and will be involved, in addition to the Citroën Formula E team, also with the Peugeot team in WEC, in the same role of Development Driver.
Alongside her two commitments with Peugeot and Citroën, Doriane Pin has also been appointed Development Driver for the Mercedes Formula 1 team, alongside two other drivers under contract with Stellantis, namely Théo Pourchaire and Nick Cassidy. The French driver also had the opportunity to make her Formula 1 debut about three weeks ago, completing a TPC at Silverstone with the W12, the car that won the Constructors’ Championship in 2021 with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
Doriane Pin new Citroën Development Driver: statements
In the official press release published by Stellantis, Doriane Pin expressed her readiness for the new Formula E challenge: “I am really excited about this new role and to join this project. Formula E is a rapidly growing championship, exciting to follow and to race in. I have already started working with the team on the GEN4 simulator, a very useful experience to understand the systems and the driving approach. As a French driver, joining Citroën has a special meaning. It is a brand with a great motorsport tradition and being part of this story is very important to me. I can’t wait to get started and to build something together.”
To her words were added those of Cyril Blais, Team Principal of the Citroën Racing Formula E Team: “Doriane is one of the most promising and complete young drivers we have seen in recent years. Beyond results, she brings strong technical sensitivity and a great ability to translate feedback into performance improvements, a crucial aspect in Formula E where development time is limited. Her contribution to refining our GEN4 package will be extremely valuable as we prepare for the future of the championship. At the same time, welcoming a talented young French driver to the team is a great source of pride for all of us.”
