The dynamics of the accident
On lap 11 of the Barcelona GP, Pedro Acosta was in first position, with Alex Marquez right behind him. The two drivers battled for several laps and, on the 11th passage, their battle culminated in turn 1, with an excellent defensive action by the KTM driver against his opponent.
The two were glued for several turns, until the straight between turn 9 and turn 10, where Acosta raised his hand due to a problem with his bike. The alarm signal, however, arrived too late, as Marquez, behind him, was unable to avoid him. After hitting him on the rear wheel, Alex tried to control his vehicle, before crashing and rolling several times, worrying the fans.
Many debris scattered on the track and one of these hit the Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio, a little further back, causing his crash. The stewards promptly displayed the red flag and interrupted the race, but the scare was great.
