Seven years ago, a tragic fate extinguished the star of Nicky Hayden, the “Kentucky Kid” who had captured the hearts of motorcycle racing fans worldwide. On May 22, 2017, a cycling accident in Cesena tragically cut short the life of American champion Nicky Hayden at the age of just 35, leaving an irreplaceable void in the world of motorcycle racing and especially among MotoGP fans., orphaned by a World Champion with a heart of gold.

Hayden was an undeniably talented rider, capable of taming the MotoGP beast with a unique and aggressive riding style, often pushing the limits but rarely crossing them. His grit on the track was matched only by his kindness and infectious smile off the paddock. A true champion on and off the track, capable of captivating the audience not only with his victories but also with his genuine personality and spirit: unforgettable are the tears of joy at his World Championship victory, when he touched the sky with his fingertips in Valencia.

The year 2006 marked Nicky Hayden’s golden year in MotoGP, a season that unfolded in an unconventional manner compared to his previous campaigns. After a consistent start with a string of podium finishes, Hayden secured his second MotoGP victory in a championship that he had been leading impressively. Why Nicky Hayden will never, ever be forgotten: the “Kentucky Kid” will continue to live forever in the hearts of all those who had the fortune to know him, or even just to see him race. Because Nicky was not just a rider: he was a hero, a friend, an example to follow for both young and old. Someone who lived his life to the fullest, someone who never backed down from a fight.
And even after all these years, fans always remember him as a great man and an outstanding rider.
