Toto Wolff’s kind words about Kimi Antonelli: “He was lapping two seconds faster than everyone.” And the 17-year-old is also thrilled: “A weight has been lifted off my shoulders…”
Joy and emotion because you’ve made it. An extraordinary result was achieved today by Kimi in the F2 Sprint: a dominant victory without any competition or doubt. Toto Wolff, a long-time admirer of Kimi, commented on this achievement and was present under the podium along with Marco Antonelli, the father of the 2006-born Prema driver.

Toto Wolff’s Words
Toto Wolff, Team Principal of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, commented on Kimi’s first triumph to Sky Sport: “An important victory for Kimi. He had a lot of bad luck, some mistakes, also because of the car, but today was a dominant victory at 17 years old, and we are all happy. Chances of joining Mercedes F1? We need to continue this trajectory. Entering Formula 1 is a big step; he will make it, and we hope he will have a great career.”
He then added with a laugh: “What I liked about Kimi today was that he controlled the entire race, going a second faster than the other podium finishers and two seconds faster than everyone else. Mature? Ah, I don’t know… that drift in the last corner is not a very mature move, but he wanted to show off! (Laughs),”Wolff concluded.
Kimi Antonelli’s Comment
Kimi Antonelli, interviewed by Mara Sangiorgio, said: “Very emotional to win like this. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders… The conditions were difficult, it’s an important moment to keep improving. And it’s important especially because mentally it helps a lot; it’s been a complicated season, and a victory like this gives great energy for tomorrow. Let’s see what the conditions will be like because they keep changing here, but I’m pumped,”Kimi said.
