BREAKING NEWS: Oliver Oakes is the new Team Principal of Alpine

The summer break continues to bring us interesting developments. After the break, Oliver Oakes will be the new Team Principal of Alpine, replacing Bruno Famin.

Bruno Famin’s departure from his role as Team Principal of Alpine was in the air, and today it is official. He will be replaced by Oliver Oakes, who will start his duties after the summer break, becoming the second youngest Team Principal in Formula 1 history.

I am extremely grateful to Luca de Meo and Flavio Briatore for this opportunity to lead the BWT Alpine F1 Team towards competitiveness. The team has talented people and excellent resources, and I am confident that we can achieve great results together during the remainder of this season and in the long term. I look forward to getting started after the summer break.” – said Oliver Oakes about his new venture.

Regarding the new addition to the Alpine family, CEO Luca de Meo expressed his enthusiasm: “It is a pleasure to welcome Oli to the team and see him become one of the youngest Team Principals this sport has ever seen. This team is built for future success, and this is highlighted by Oli’s appointment to a senior role. “We look forward to harnessing his enthusiasm, energy, and passion for racing and implementing that mindset across the entire team.”

Flavio Briatore, who has recently returned to the paddock, also shared his thoughts on Oakes: “I am pleased that we have managed to recruit Oli Oakes for our Formula 1 project. Oli is highly talented, with an excellent record of leadership and success in racing. His move to this role is a great example of the strength and confidence we have in our team and in emerging young talent, and I am excited to work closely with him with a common goal: to climb up the grid and win races.”

Who is Oliver Oakes?

Oakes founded Hitech Grand Prix in 2015, which for nearly a decade has been at the forefront of single-seater racing on both the global and national stages. A former driver and world karting champion in 2005, Oli has created a winning culture at Hitech Grand Prix, achieving victories in every championship in which he has competed and helping to advance the careers of some of today’s most prominent drivers.
