Feature F2 at Monza: Bortoleto STUNS with Victory from Last Place! What a Race!
Gabriel Bortoleto pulls off an incredible victory in the Feature F2 at Monza, coming from last place on the grid to take the win! The Brazilian driver for Invicta delivered a masterclass performance, capitalizing on raw speed and a timely Safety Car to storm through the field, finishing with an impressive 8-second lead over Zane Maloney, who started from pole position.
Richard Verschoor surprises by securing the final podium spot, while a strong and consistent Kimi Antonelli finishes in 4th place.
Rounding out the top 10 are Durksen, Martins, Bearman, Villagomez, Crawford, and Fittipaldi. Just outside the points, Hadjar finishes 11th, while Aron is forced to retire.
Race Summary
The Start – Disaster struck early for Paul Aron, the championship contender, who was taken out by Pepe Martí, forcing both into retirement. Hauger also had to pit early, leaving Zane Maloney in control at the front, followed closely by Prema teammates Ollie Bearman and Kimi Antonelli. A Safety Car was deployed briefly but only stayed out for a lap.
Durksen made a strong charge, overtaking Hadjar, Antonelli, and Bearman within just three laps before the pit stops began. Meanwhile, Hauger spun out at Turn 1, bringing out another Safety Car, which played into Bortoleto’s hands, putting him in a prime position despite starting from the back.
he lead switched hands multiple times, with Goethe, Maini, and finally Bortoleto taking turns at the front. Sporting Ayrton Senna’s iconic helmet design, Bortoleto was unstoppable, his blend of fortune and speed securing his place at the top. Bearman and Antonelli were less fortunate, dropping to 7th and 8th respectively after being caught out by the Safety Car.
The two Prema drivers, both future F1 stars, provided some of the race’s most exciting moments as they battled fiercely on track. Antonelli eventually made his move, overtaking Bearman and then Martins to secure a strong fourth-place finish. Not only that: Antonelli manages to overtake Martins as well, securing a temporary fifth position.
