Matteo Macchiavelli, an Italian designer, has created and launched the trophies for Austin 2024: here’s the curious cup that will be on the podium this Sunday!
The United States Grand Prix is approaching, and new details are emerging for one of the most anticipated races of the year. Pirelli, the company that supplies tires to the 20 Formula 1 cars, has designed a brand-new trophy for the podium finishers of the Austin GP.
Heroo, an all-Italian trophy
The trophy is named “Heroo” (from “hero”): the United States Grand Prix cup was designed by Matteo Macchiavelli, an Italian artist who also created the commemorative Ayrton Senna car displayed in Imola.
Heroo symbolizes the perfect pairing between Pirelli tires and Formula 1 cars: the figure is a human shape (crafted from carbon fiber) standing atop a Pirelli tire (in this case, a medium compound), joyfully posed for finishing in the top three. Each trophy, however, comes in different colors: the helmet is gold for the winner, for both drivers and constructors, silver for second place, and titanium for third.
Additionally, Heroo will be produced in a limited edition and sold to the public as a Pirelli collector’s item for fans.
