Formula 1 will no longer see a driver score 26 points in a race: the fastest lap rule is changing!
The regulations in Formula 1 are constantly evolving, and it seems that next season will be no exception. This time, however, it’s not about technical regulations: the sporting regulations are changing, with consequences visible from the first race in Australia.
Following the last meeting at the FIA World Motorsport Council, and after the incident and subsequent discussions about Daniel Ricciardo’s fastest lap in Singapore, it has been decided that, starting in 2025, the famous “extra point” will no longer be awarded.
A decision that is already dividing the F1 fanbase on social media: while some support the change, others call it “madness.” It’s clear that this weekend in Austin, there will be plenty to talk about.
