Colapinto continues to make headlines both on and off the track: the Argentine joked about losing the extra point for the fastest lap at the last second of the United States Grand Prix.

A true expert race for Franco Colapinto during the Grand Prix at the Lone Star State circuit; the Argentine driver started from sixteenth position and crossed the finish line in tenth place, continuing to earn points for the Williams team.

During the final laps of the GP, the 2003-born driver could have earned an extra point after setting the fastest lap, but that point went to the Alpine team and Esteban Ocon. We’re getting used to the charm of the Argentine, who is inspiring the entire nation, and during the post-race interviews, Colapinto joked about the incident, referencing Ocon and environmental respect. “I had the extra point until two laps to go, and then that guy, the Frenchman, took it away from me. But what was the point of coming into the pits at that moment? They’re wasting the tires. We need to help the planet!” said the Williams driver.

Later, in an interview with ESPN, Colapinto commented on the strategy developed during the race, expressing his thoughts on starting with hard tires and joking about what his future profession might be if he doesn’t secure a seat for the next season. “The decision to start with hard tires? It was my idea. If I don’t have a seat in 2025, I could become a strategist.”

Despite his fantastic performances since entering the scene, the 21-year-old Argentine still seems to be without a seat for 2025. The last available spot appears to be at Sauber/Audi, but Binotto stated that there is no rush for a decision in the short term.
