Contact between Bearman and Albon during FP1 of the Mexican Grand Prix: both drivers are out of the session

A shocking incident during FP1 of the Mexican Grand Prix: Alex Albon, navigating the “Snake” section, encountered Ollie Bearman, who was on track driving Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari at the time.

His Williams lost aerodynamic load, causing Albon to lose control of the car: in the spin, the FW43’s right rear hit the SF-24’s front left, and the Thai driver crashed heavily into the wall. Car number 23 immediately spoke up on the radio, calling Bearman an “idiot.”

Bearman also had to abandon the session: no severe damage for him, but his session ended after just a few laps. The British driver is currently under investigation for “causing a collision.”
