BREAKING: Sauber signs former Ferrari engineer Iñaki Rueda

The Hinwil team announces an important new entry within the team: Iñaki Rueda. In addition to the Spanish engineer, Sauber Motorsport has also announced the signing of Giampaolo Dall’Ara.

During the week of the Brazilian Grand Prix—also the fourth-to-last event of this increasingly exciting Formula 1 season—Sauber Motorsport, while preparing for its transition to Audi’s entry in 2026, announced two significant signings joining the team: Iñaki Rueda as Sporting Director and Giampaolo Dall’Ara, who will take on the role of Head of Race Engineering.

Iñaki Rueda will be joining the Sauber team, fully bidding farewell to the Scuderia Ferrari.

The Spanish engineer had bid farewell to the F1 department at Maranello last January;now he will fully close the chapter at Scuderia Ferrari to succeed Beat Zehnder, who has been part of the Sauber family since the late 1980s. Zehnder will transition to the role of Director of Signature Programs and Operations, through which he willensure the best possible transition as the team evolves into its new structuresstarting from 2025; while Rueda will be responsible for the oversight of all sporting activities,managing relationships with the FIA and all regulatory matters trackside.

Giampaolo Dall’Ara will also join the Swiss team!

Giampaolo Dall’Ara, on the other hand, will oversee the department’s operations both in Hinwil and at the track, aiming to optimize alignment regarding the car’s performance and to ensure a unified approach to performance-related issues. The Italian boasts a wealth of experience in the industry, having held key roles in the Alfa Romeo DTM team and at Sauber Motorsport.

The team based in Hinwil stated that “these leadership changes infuse the team with renewed confidence while strengthening the organization in preparation for future challenges and opportunities, with a bright future as a factory team on the horizon.”
