Overnight, severe weather struck the city of Valencia and surrounding areas, with tragic consequences: over fifty fatalities and dozens more missing across the region. Spain is in a state of emergency, and all major sports events scheduled for today have already been canceled.

Among the affected areas is the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, set to host the Formula E 2024 tests first and then the MotoGP grand finale the following week (November 15-17). Concerns are high, recalling last year’s Formula 1 cancellation in Imola due to similar conditions.

Valencia Circuit Reportedly “Safe”

A spokesperson from Dorna, the company managing MotoGP and the World Championship, stated: “The structures at the Valencia circuit sustained no damage, and the track is in perfect condition. No injuries have been reported among the staff, and everyone is safe. At the moment, this is what’s most important.”

No confirmation (or denial) has been made about a possible postponement of the event; however, the Formula E tests planned for the previous week face even greater risk (see report on current conditions).

Doubts remain about the final round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship: the showdown between Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia may unfortunately not be the main topic of discussion in the streets of Valencia over the coming weeks.
