Colapinto: “If Williams can’t give me a seat, the normal thing would be to look elsewhere.”

Franco Colapinto spoke at the press conference ahead of the Brazilian weekend, with F1 set to hit the track at Interlagos tomorrow.

Colapinto is at the center of significant market rumors. According to multiple sources, the Argentine driver for Williams is on Red Bull’s radar, which reportedly offered 20 million to Williams to secure the services of the talented South American driver.

Colapinto: “If Williams can’t give me a seat, the normal thing would be to look elsewhere.”

Colapinto, speaking at the press conference, preferred to dismiss market rumors and focus on the end of the season. He said: “If Williams can’t give me a seat, the normal thing would be to look elsewhere; I’m not the right person to say that. I’ll try to do my job, and it would be great to have another opportunity in the future. My first choice will always be Formula 1.

I’ve come in at a very advanced stage of the season. Williams has given me a lot of confidence, and I’m trying to make the most of this chance to show that I deserve to be here. I don’t feel much pressure; I’m enjoying the moment and the opportunity I’ve received. It’s a dream to drive a Formula 1 car.”

The Argentine continued: “Ayrton has always been my idol. I’ve watched his races and read books about him; coming from South America makes me feel closer to him. Things are going well; we’re coming off a more difficult weekend with very low grip. I struggled to find pace in qualifying, but the race was positive. I’m confident, and with the Sprint coming up, we’re looking to carry the positive momentum we had in Mexico here as well. It will be special for me to race here; it’s the closest race to home.”
