Aston Martin, Alonso heroic: “I finished the race just for the mechanics.”

Fernando Alonso, dealing with back problems from the bouncing of the Aston Martin, finished the race solely for the mechanics.

It was a particularly tough Sunday for Aston Martin, with Alonso finishing in fourteenth place, while Lance Stroll didn’t even participate in the Brazilian GP after getting stuck in the gravel during the reconnaissance lap.

Aston Martin, Alonso heroic: “I finished the race just for the mechanics.”

It was a tough Sunday, especially for the mechanics, as both drivers from the British team crashed during the morning qualifying session. The team did a great job getting both cars ready for the race, but their efforts didn’t result in a good finish.

Fernando Alonso, who finished fourteenth and had back problems, wanted to complete the race solely for the mechanics, thanking them for their hard work during a grueling day. He said after the GP: It was a tough day. We had to replace some components after the qualifying incident, which made the car a bit slower. Then there was the brake issue at the restart.

Only in the second half of the race did the car start suffering a lot from bouncing, and under other circumstances, I would have retired, but the mechanics did an incredible job preparing the car in time, and I finished the race just for them. These three consecutive races have not been kind to us. We will try to be competitive for the last three races.”
