The stakes are raised for the Champion who will win the F1 Academy title: at stake is the opportunity to race with the Rodin Motorsport team in the British F3 Championship.
After today’s participation in the pre-season Formula E tests in Madrid, where as many as 9 F1 Academy drivers took part, a new opportunity opens up for women in motorsport. One of the biggest challenges in the world of motorsport competitions is securing funding, a hot topic even for drivers in lower categories (such as Zak O’Sullivan in Formula 2), who often find themselves “forced” to let go of their dreams due to financial constraints.
However, the driver who wins the F1 Academy Championship will have the opportunity to compete, with full financial support, in the British Formula 3 Championship alongside the Rodin Motorsport team, which is also currently involved in the women’s championship led by Susie Wolff. Additionally, thanks to a contribution from Pirelli, the winner will have the chance to drive the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 for 20 days of testing.
Currently, with the last two rounds remaining in the F1A season, all the cards for claiming not only the title but also the seat with the British team for next year’s GB3 season are in favor of Abbi Pulling, the driver supported by the Alpine Academy. She has extended her dominance race after race, holding the top spot in the standings with 245 points and a lead of nearly 100 points over second-place Doriane Pin.
Susie Wolff, CEO of F1 ACADEMY, enthusiastically commented on the first real step toward the title victory, aimed at bringing female drivers closer to the top categories. This step is part of a broader range of initiatives supporting women in motorsport: “At F1 ACADEMY we are striving to create opportunities for women to succeed at all levels of our sport, and a testament to that mission is our commitment to putting together the best possible package for our Champions to move onwards and upwards“.
“Together with our driver development team, we’re proud to support our 2024 Champion with a fully funded seat in GB3 with Rodin Motorsport in 2025. This will provide her with a fantastic opportunity to continue her development and aid her future progression concluded the former British driver, a cornerstone of the female-focused project.
Jonathan Palmer, CEO of Motor Sport Vision, has expressed his full support for increasing female participation in motorsport, even going so far as to enhance the prize for the standout female driver in the 2025 GB4 Championship. The winner will be able to use the prize money to support her 2026 F1 Academy season.
“We are delighted that GB3 has been chosen as the next step for the 2024 F1 ACADEMY champion. Over the past decade there has quite rightly been a big shift in motorsport to recognise and encourage the participation of women. F1 ACADEMY has been instrumental in that process and Susie’s determination to provide women with unprecedented opportunities to develop and shine is tremendously exciting. As part of our own commitment to increasing these opportunities, MSV has increased its prize package for the most successful female racer in the 2025 GB4 Championship to €50,000, which she can put towards a 2026 season in F1 ACADEMY ” said Palmer.
