Formula 1 is experiencing a period of significant expansion, and in this context, Zak Brown has put forward his personal proposal.

This is a sign that Formula 1 is constantly evolving from every angle. Also in the spotlight is the issue of Grands Prix, with CEO Stefano Domenicali having repeatedly stated his openness to new additions to the calendar, while keeping the number of 24 races per season unchanged. In this regard, Zak Brown has shared his personal proposal.

These were the words of the McLaren CEO: ““I believe 24 races is the limit. As I’ve said before, having 20 fixed races and eight rotating could be a solution to help grow the sport, given the strong demand. If we can expand to cover 28 markets, that would be fantastic. But realistically, I think 24 events per year is the maximum.”

Brown also praised the work of F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali: “Stefano has done a great job managing the calendar. It’s never easy, because you have to consider other sports, TV schedules, holidays… It’s like a domino effect. But Formula 1 adopts a collaborative approach, regularly consulting with us and listening to our needs.”

The feeling is that important changes will come in the next few weeks, starting with the 2026 calendar (since next season’s schedule will remain the same as 2024). The license granted to the Kyalami circuit (South Africa) and Argentina’s desire to return to F1 may just be the first pieces of a change that is already underway.
