Lewis Hamilton could make his first kilometers in red behind the wheel of the F1-75.
The F1-75, Ferrari’s first creation of the new ground effect era, could be the car with which Lewis Hamilton will debut for the Maranello team. According to Motorsport, the seven-time world champion is expected to test the 2022 car during the usual Fiorano test.
By contract, Hamilton will only be able to drive a Ferrari in 2025, as he will be committed to Mercedes until the end of this year. In this regard, the Silver Arrows are preparing a special tribute to Sir Lewis ahead of his final Grand Prix after twelve seasons: on Mercedes’ website, after signing up, fans will be able to add their signatures, and the first 150 will be featured on the livery of the car that will take to the track in Abu Dhabi.
As he recently stated, however, Hamilton can’t wait for Christmas to come, but to drive the Red car, he will have to wait until 2025. There won’t be many opportunities before the start of the season, but Frederic Vasseur is not worried about potential issues with Hamilton adjusting to and gaining confidence with the car, given his experience with McLaren.
The Ferrari Team Principal expressed himself as follows: “I don’t think Hamilton will need many hours to get used to the Ferrari. He’s an experienced enough driver to be fast right from the first day, or at least very quickly. We’ll do one or two days of TPC, followed by the tests in Bahrain, and I’m confident that will be enough. Certainly, there are people in the team already focusing on 2025, on organizing the tests and the communication, with Lewis fitting into this kind of schedule.”
Between January and February 2025, therefore, Lewis Hamilton will drive the Ferrari at Fiorano, and most likely, it will be the F1-75 from 2022. The anticipation is high, but right now, all the energy of the men in red is focused on the end of the season, with the Constructors’ Championship well within reach.
