Formula 1 in Madrid in 2026: Two major sponsors come on board for the event.

The doubts surrounding the construction of the circuit seem to be clearing up following the involvement of major sponsors, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

Recently, there have been rumors—best taken with a grain of salt—about the possible cancellation of the Spanish Grand Prix, set to take place in Madrid starting in 2026. According to German sources, the lack of significant partners had created serious challenges for the construction of the circuit and, consequently, the event itself.

However, the rumors are gradually fading as, according to Relevo, major sponsors have agreed to take on the task of financing the Madrid event through substantial investments and significant sums of money. This is a crucial boost, allowing the event organizers to work with speed and freedom. The new sponsors, who will be announced soon, are expected to provide both financial and logistical support, ensuring efficiency and backing for the project.

Regarding this matter, Formula 1 has never publicly commented, avoiding any statements. As mentioned earlier, the two major sponsors will be revealed in the coming days and are described as highly significant partners with considerable economic influence. The shared goal is to make the Madrid event one of the most appealing, not only from a motorsport perspective but also through the development of hotels and entertainment spaces.

It’s worth noting that the Madrid Grand Prix, officially on the calendar from 2026, was announced by F1 on January 23, 2024. The circuit will be a street track, similar to those introduced in recent years: it will measure 5.474 kilometers and consist of 20 corners. Simulations suggest a qualifying lap time of around 1 minute and 32 seconds, although with the latest updates to the regulations, times could easily improve.

The track, currently under construction, will be located on the outskirts of the city and will be divided by an elevated highway. The circuit will span three different areas of the Spanish capital: the first will be within the exhibition center, the second on public roads, and the third on adjacent land currently unused.
