Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez spoke to the press ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday.
A historic moment awaits Max Verstappen, who could secure his fourth consecutive World Championship in Las Vegas. The Dutch driver, fresh off his legendary win in Brazil, is on the verge of claiming the title, and the chances of celebrating in the United States are high, regardless of Lando Norris.
Verstappen, who has 62 career victories, addressed the press ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where he triumphed last season. Here are his words: “Brazil was an incredible race for us and a truly special moment for me and the team; it was great to see that we’re back to our previous form. The team did an amazing job, and we hope to continue like this in the upcoming races. Naturally, Las Vegas marks the start of the final triple-header of the year, so it’s the last push for everyone.
Last year we performed well here, and it’s a very fast circuit with long straights and plenty of overtaking opportunities. Once again, the temperatures seem quite low, so it will be about managing the tires. We take each race as it comes and look forward to the final races of the season.”
In stark contrast, Sergio Perez’s morale is quite different, as he continues to be at the center of conflicting rumors. Many insiders believe he will stay with Red Bull in 2025, while former drivers such as Coulthard and Ralf Schumacher think he might be leaving the grid next season.
Here are the words of the Mexican driver, who has a lot at stake in Las Vegas: “The Las Vegas weekend is very important for the team last year this race was an unknown. It was a new race, a new surface for all of us, and we were racing in temperatures we’re not used to. In 2023, we barely had any data, so this year we approach the street circuit with much more information and knowledge.
For me, it’s a track I enjoy; I like the street circuit experience, with the narrow walls, and it’s unlike anything else, especially driving along the Strip or towards the Sphere towering over you. On one hand, it’s a spectacular race for everyone involved, whether at the track or watching at home, but on the other hand, I know I need to give my best and maximize both the car and my performance. I’ve worked with the team, and I believe Sao Paulo was much more competitive than we were able to show, so we aim to put everything together for the final three races.”
