Pedro Acosta finished his first MotoGP season in 6th place, a campaign full of ups and downs but decidedly positive for the Spanish rider.
Pedro Acosta, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, was awarded at the MotoGP End-of-Year Gala. It was a recognition that was never in doubt and more than deserved for the talented Spanish rider, who concluded the season in 6th place in the overall standings, behind Brad Binder‘s official KTM.
A season, therefore, more than positive for Acosta, who impressed especially in the first part of the year, often pushing the limits of the KTM Gas Gas. These are his words on the 2024 season: “The race was a bit disappointing for us; we had some braking issues that we need to understand, but I’m still happy to have finished the race. It’s been a season of ups and downs, with some really good results and some frustrating moments due to mistakes I made, but overall it was a very positive championship.
I’m happy to start another chapter, even though it’s not completely separate since I’m staying within the family, but I’m leaving some people behind. From day one, I’ve felt really welcomed; the mechanics and everyone else have been great with me, so I’ll always hold my first MotoGP season with Tech3 close to my heart.”
Acosta also spoke about the Barcelona Grand Prix, where he finished in 10th place. Here’s what he had to say: “In the warm-up, we found something interesting that we thought would work better for the race, but unfortunately, the feeling was the same as the rest of the weekend. I had a good start, and after a few laps, I was in a good position, but somehow, I didn’t have the right feeling with the rear tire. It’s not the way we wanted to finish the season, but that’s how it went. Now we have a new chapter ahead, different from the last one, so we keep fighting for our goals.”
