Esteban Ocon will take to the track with a helmet dedicated to Captain America in Las Vegas

Formula 1 in the Multiverse of Marvel? Esteban Ocon takes it on with a new helmet dedicated to Captain America for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

After the Brazilian Grand Prix, not forgetting his second-place finish at the Interlagos circuit, Esteban Ocon will arrive in Las Vegas with high expectations for the championship, aiming to “maintain the momentum from São Paulo and make the most of the weekend to keep hold of sixth place in the standings.” The Brazilian double success helped the Enstone team rise to sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship, ahead of Haas and Racing Bulls. Now, the focus is entirely on the Nevada weekend.

In addition to driving a car featuring the iconic pink livery of Alpine’s title partner, for the third and final American race of the season, the French driver has decided to dedicate his helmet to the ultimate superhero, a symbol of the United States in the Marvel universe: Captain America. The design resembles the Stars and Stripes flag and also recalls Captain America’s carbon shield, his faithful companion during missions.

This won’t be Esteban Ocon’s first time wearing a superhero-themed helmet: during the 2022 United States Grand Prix, the Évreux driver paid tribute to his favorite superhero, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. In last year’s edition of the Nevada Grand Prix, coinciding with the release of Deadpool, in which Ryan Reynolds—one of Alpine’s major investors—plays the title character, Ocon wore a helmet inspired by the movie. Similarly, at the Belgian Grand Prix this year, in conjunction with the release of the second chapter in the Deadpool saga, Deadpool & Wolverine, he wore a helmet reflecting the film’s theme.
