Marc Marquez’s statement at the end of the post-season test day, during his first day with the official Ducati.
All eyes were on him. During the MotoGP post-season test day, the focus was on Marc Marquez and his debut on the official Ducati. It was a good day, as described by the Spanish rider himself, who took to the track entirely in red— from his suit to his helmet, and of course, the bike.
A positive impact, then, for the eight-time world champion, who made these statements: “Everything in red was what was missing. I took a risky bet a year and a half ago, and now I had to complete the job with the official team. It was the best news, and that was kind of the idea behind the design.”
The Spanish rider completed a total of 94 laps, during which he had the chance to try the GP23, GP24, and GP25. These were his impressions: “I made a leap from the GP23 to the GP25. It’s a new bike, and the first time on track takes more time to get everything right. I rode the GP24 a few times, and there are some differences. I think the GP25 is more competitive, but we’ll need to see more as we go.”
Also important were the first exchanges with Davide Tardozzi and Gigi Dall’Igna, as Marc himself highlighted: “Davide is more on the sporting side, and today we focused on technical issues, but without a doubt, they are people I’ve known for more than ten years and with whom I’ve always had a good relationship. We were rivals before, and now we’re on the same team. With the people in the garage, I felt at ease. In 90% of the sessions, I already tried the 2025 bike.”
Clearly, it’s noticeable that in an official team garage, there are many more responsibilities than in a private team garage. Here, you test bike concepts, a new engine, and a frame that requires very precise feedback, because incorrect feedback can affect the bike’s development. It’s a test where the rider is at the disposal of the engineers.”
Finally, Marquez shared his thoughts on teammate Pecco Bagnaia: “The most important thing about having a close relationship with your teammate is now, during this test. What you try in Malaysia is already what you’ll bring to the first race. We talked and compared our comments. First, we spoke separately with the engineers, and then we spoke to each other. The important thing is that our comments were very similar.”
