These are the words of Fabio Quartararo at the end of the test day in Barcelona, the French rider is half satisfied.
Fabio Quartararo, who appeared at the microphones at the end of the only post-season MotoGP test day, was only partially satisfied. A first glimpse of 2025 for the Yamaha rider, eager to return to fighting at the front after two years in which the Japanese manufacturer has not lived up to expectations.
Many new developments were tested by Yamaha, as highlighted by the French rider’s words:“We improved in some areas with the new chassis, but in terms of traction, not yet. The plan is to bring a big evolutionary step in Malaysia. We tested a new engine and a new upper fairing, the goal was to have the same feeling. We also tested a new swingarm; the aim was not to improve, but to see if we could reduce the weight.” .”
Quartararo then added: “We improved when transitioning from straight to full lean; now the bike is quicker to tip into corners. However, we still need to improve the bike’s pick-up from the lean angle, which is the area that still needs to be quicker. We have found the direction to improve corner entry; now we need to work on the exit as well. .”
El Diablo, however, finished in the top positions. A significant boost of confidence ahead of the work to be done during the winter: ” It’s a good feeling, I had forgotten what that felt like. These are just tests, though. Before, when I turned the page, I was more disappointed, now it’s nice to see my name at the top of the list. I’m going home with good feelings; we’re still a long way off the fastest, but I had fun, I had a good pace and set some nice laps. I’m faster, but I don’t know if I’m close because it’s just a test and hard to analyze. In terms of position, we’ll see on the last day in Thailand where we stand. .”
