Hamilton-Red Bull, the great gesture of sportsmanship at the end of the Las Vegas GP

A wonderful act of sportsmanship from some of the Red Bull mechanics towards Lewis Hamilton: a heartfelt embrace between rivals

Formula 1 has shown us throughout its history that even intense and fierce rivalries can have their moments of peace. One of the most iconic examples is Adelaide 1993, when after Ayrton Senna’s final career victory and Alain Prost’s last race, the two embraced and shared the top step of the podium, despite having fiercely battled during their prime years.

In the modern era, the great rivalry has undoubtedly been between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and consequently between Mercedes and Red Bull. The 2021 season was one of the most tension-filled in history, and even today, both champions occasionally reflect on that year with bitterness, despite repeatedly expressing mutual respect.

In this context, a beautiful act of sportsmanship went unnoticed by the cameras at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Hamilton finished second after an incredible comeback from P10, and several Red Bull mechanics ran directly to the grid to congratulate the seven-time world champion, a gesture Hamilton seemed to deeply appreciate.

The moment, captured only by amateur footage from the stands, has now gone viral. Rivalry and respect, walking hand in hand this time.
