In the unprecedented Saturday in Las Vegas, George Russell secured his second win of the season, ahead of Lewis Hamilton for a dominant Mercedes 1-2 finish. It was a long-awaited victory for the Silver Arrows, who were able to dominate the weekend starting from the first free practice session.
The cold weather clearly favored the W15, allowing the car to bring its tires up to temperature right from the start, unlike its competitors. In Las Vegas, Mercedes achieved its fourth win of the season, and Toto Wolff did not hide his excitement, saying: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a double podium, so this is an extraordinary result for the team.
The colder conditions on a low-grip circuit like this clearly suited us well. Credit goes to everyone for the excellent work done throughout the weekend. We were competitive right from the first session on Thursday and maintained that pace throughout Friday and Saturday. The car was placed in a perfect performance window, and it’s really rewarding to see the results.”
