Lando Norris secured pole position in the sprint qualifying, placing ahead of Russell and Piastri.

Lando Norris will start from the front in the Sprint Race of the Qatar Grand Prix, scheduled for tomorrow at 3:00 PM Italian time. The young British driver from McLaren topped the session, finishing ahead of Russell and Piastri. This is a strong result for the constructors’ championship, as Ferrari‘s Sainz and Leclerc will start in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

McLaren, Norris preaches calm: “The opponents are closer than we expected.”

Norris, interviewed after qualifying, expressed satisfaction with the result, but emphasized that the weekend has only just begun. Here are Lando’s words: “I’m happy. Today we achieved our goal, so we’re pleased: we wanted to bounce back after Las Vegas, and we managed to do that. This track suits us better compared to others, and even last year we were more competitive here. We knew we could be fast, but the opponents are closer than I expected and than I would have liked.”

The weekend is just starting, but a pole position is always an important confidence boost for the British driver and for the McLaren team, which holds a 24-point lead over Ferrari. Norris added: “In qualifying, we regained confidence, whereas in practice I struggled more and we were even behind the Ferraris. But we improved: the car has made a step forward, and that makes me happy. However, the real goal is still tomorrow.”
