Mercedes, Hamilton disappointed with seventh place: “Starting from this position, I won’t be able to aim for victory.”

Lewis Hamilton made some statements after the sprint qualifying, securing seventh place on the grid.

This afternoon, at 3 PM Italian time, the final sprint race of the season will take place in Qatar. Lando Norris will start from pole position, with Mercedes driver George Russell alongside him. The British driver seems very upbeat in this final part of the season, while Lewis Hamilton, his teammate, continues to struggle with one-lap pace.

Mercedes, Hamilton disappointed with seventh place: “Starting from this position, I won’t be able to aim for victory.”

The seven-time world champion expressed disappointment with his performance in the sprint qualifying, being almost half a second behind the former Williams driver. In Las Vegas, a similar scenario unfolded for Lewis, who, after making two mistakes in Q3, had to settle for starting from 10th place, missing out on a chance to fight for victory. However, a remarkable recovery allowed him to finish with a Mercedes 1-2 in the race.

Lewis, speaking to the microphones, commented on his sprint qualifying session with the following words: Here’s what Hamilton had to say: “Today the car behaved well, and the positive side is that it seems to adapt well to these conditions, proving to be fast. As for me, the Sprint qualifying didn’t go as I hoped, but George is in a good position and should be able to have a solid race.

Throughout the day, the long-run pace was encouraging, so I hope this aspect can make a difference and help us gain ground in the Sprint. Starting from seventh place will make it difficult to fight for the win, but I’ll give it my all and we’ll see what I can do. Also, we have qualifying coming up, and I hope I can have a good session to improve further. We’ll see what the day holds!”
