Carlos Sainz finished in sixth place at the Qatar Grand Prix, with a rather anonymous race for the Spanish driver, who also suffered a puncture.
Carlos Sainz certainly didn’t shine under the lights of Qatar. The Spanish driver finished only in sixth place, behind Gasly’s Alpine. It was a rather lackluster race for Ferrari’s number 55, Ferrari’s number 55, who also encountered a puncture due to debris left by Albon’s mirror.
The mirror in question, which somehow might have helped Ferrari ahead of the next race. The intervention of the Safety Car, caused by the debris on the track, allowed Leclerc to take second place from Piastri, while Norris received a rather excessive penalty for not slowing down under yellow flags.
At the end of the Grand Prix, Sainz spoke to the microphones, analyzing his race. These are the words of the Madrid native: “I’m not at all satisfied with what happened today. I had to complete an entire lap with a puncture, losing a lot of time. When I stopped in the pits, the stop was very slow, and just as I exited the pit lane, the Safety Car was deployed, allowing everyone ahead of me to take advantage of it. That’s how it goes sometimes in racing. We could have brought home a lot of points as a team, but a lot happened, and it didn’t go as we hoped.”
However, fate is not in Ferrari’s hands, but the opportunities to try again will not be lacking. Here’s Sainz’s thought: “Now we look to Abu Dhabi to try to win this championship: fortunately, nothing serious happened to Charles, and this allows us to continue fighting in the last race. We will need a special weekend, with many points from us and few for McLaren, but we will try. We are in a good position to do so.”
