Lewis Hamilton is about to race his final Grand Prix with the Mercedes suit after twelve seasons and six World Championships.
The extraordinary journey of Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes has come to an end. The British driver has spent twelve seasons behind the wheel of the Silver Arrows, with six World Championships and an impressive tally of victories. Abu Dhabi will mark a new chapter in Lewis’s career, as he will drive for Ferrari in 2025.
The recent races, however, haven’t gone well for Hamilton, who, aside from his performance in Las Vegas, had one of his toughest races in Qatar. Two penalties and a puncture for the seven-time world champion, here are his comments on the matter: “Overall, it was a pretty negative race for me, but these things happen. It started badly with the false start, a mistake entirely on my part, which cost me a penalty served during the pit stop. Then there was the puncture, a pure stroke of bad luck, followed by the speeding infringement in the pit lane, another mistake on my part. The car had a lot of understeer because the setup didn’t provide enough downforce on the front wing. I gave my best, but from the start, everything seemed to go wrong.”
Now, his focus is on Abu Dhabi, where the final chapter of a legendary partnership will unfold: “It wasn’t a great race weekend, but we have another chance next week to try and finish in a better way. I hope for a more positive result. These last few weeks, as tough as they have been, don’t erase all the extraordinary things we’ve done together as a team. Racing is a rollercoaster of emotions: I’ve had great races in my career, but also difficult days like this one. In the end, it doesn’t matter so much how you fall, but how you get back up. And we’ll try again next week.”
