Fernando Alonso finished with an excellent seventh place at the Qatar Grand Prix, with Aston Martin showing positive signs.
The Qatar weekend was more than satisfactory for Fernando Alonso. The Spanish driver of Aston Martin, after a good qualifying session, managed to secure seventh place in the race, earning points again since the Singapore Grand Prix. The Asturian driver made the most of the various dynamics that unfolded during the race, after a rather challenging start due to the car’s straight-line speed.
The two-time world champion, interviewed by the microphones at the end of the race, commented on his Qatar Grand Prix: “A very good Sunday for us, with a seventh place and six points earned; the car was a bit faster compared to Saturday and we capitalized on some actions in front of us with a few retirements and penalties, but we were in the right place at the right time. It’s a good moment to score points for the team, and we hope to carry this form to Abu Dhabi and finish the season with a positive result.”
Thanks to Fernando’s seventh place, Aston Martin consolidates its fifth position in the constructors’ standings with a huge gap from the top four teams and a strong advantage over those behind, namely Alpine and Haas. This is a significant confidence boost for the British team, looking ahead to 2025 and, especially, the upcoming regulation changes in 2026.
